The house sat vacant and available to prospective buyers for $1.99.  The only stipulation was that the buyer had to move the house to a new site.
After a new site was secured, NHS had a myriad of tasks to complete before moving the house.  This included the demolition of existing additions and wings.
To prepare for moving the house, the entire foundation had to be removed and replaced with steel beams and wood cribbing.
The new site was at 115 Valley Street, some 2,000 feet from the house’s location on Blake Street.  The new site was acquired from Thomas Ciancia who became the new owner and resident of the renovated house.
As if the new site did not already have plenty of natural beauty with a backdrop of West Rock and the West River, a 500 year-old sycamore tree thrived at the rear of the property.
