Adaptive Re-use
Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven has recently completed the conversion of a former Laundromat and commercial storefront into a two-family residence. In 2006 we acquired the property known as 203 Dwight Street and 76-78 Edgewood Avenue from the City of New Haven. The intention was to transform these two connected abandoned commercial structures into a two-family owner-occupied residence within walking distance of downtown New Haven and Yale University. Many interesting design features, coupled with the preservation of key architectural details, made this renovated and restored structure one of the most unique residences in the City of New Haven.
See how NHS adapted the formerly-blighted commercial building into a beautiful home in these selected photographs.
This property was sold in September 2008 and is now the residence of proud homeowners in the Dwight neighborhood.
