This Victorian Cottage revealed hints of its beauty once the modern siding was removed, and has been restored to its historic exterior appearance. A large one-family home with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, this home also features restored hard-wood floors, solotube natural daylighting, and convenient design elements like a laundry chute.

This house, dating back to the 1760's, is one of the oldest houses in the western part of New Haven. It actually faces the New Haven Green instead of being aligned towards Blake Street. Renovated in 2003, the original wide plank wood flooring and working fireplace was restored, with three bedrooms and one bathroom.

This property is adjacent to a recent New Haven school construction project. Abandoned for many years, NHS renovated this home in 2005. The traditional wood front porch with picture-framed trellis, architectural brackets, and bold color scheme is well maintained by the same first-time homebuyer to this day.

Keeping home energy and improvement bills down!

With rising energy costs and limited disposable income, it has become critically important for homebuyers, homeowners and tenants to avoid unnecessary expenses. The Lab serves as a hands-on training facility for residents to learn useful skills to maintain their homes and conserve energy.

Working together, building together

Building strong communities is a significant part of the NHS mission. We equip residents with the tools and information necessary to shape the image and direction of their neighborhood.  Community building begins when residents feel empowered to be advocates for their own needs and work to meet those needs as a community.

Restoring neighborhoods one house at a time

Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven has over 30 years of experience rehabilitating homes in and around New Haven. If you live in the city, you've probably walked or driven by one already. Our trademark is a carefully selected color scheme that is different for every house yet has a distinct style that is quickly recognizable and always impressive.

Your key to homeownership!

The New Haven HomeOwnership Center was incorporated in 2001 to provide a complete range of homebuyer education and counseling services to NHS’ existing client base: low- and moderate-income first-time homebuyers. The HomeOwnership Center now serves as a one-stop shop for current and prospective homeowners.
