Built in 1908, these Read street houses comprise two-thirds of a trio of Colonial Revival houses built by John J. Connor. As a carpenter and contractor, Connor built over 50 houses in the Newhallville neighborhood in the 1890s and early 1900s. Though he usually constructed understated single family homes, Connor made 79 and 83 Read Street a large and grand project.
