NHS and its subsidiary, the New Haven HomeOwnership Center, have accomplished the following through June, 2011:
- Developed 414 units of affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families (including both new construction and complete rehabilitation).
- Created homeownership opportunities for 223 low- and moderate-income first-time homebuyers.
- Helped 475 other prospective homebuyers actually purchase a home.
- Created (or assisted with the creation of) six block watches or neighborhood associations.
- Assisted 1,935 homeowners with foreclosure prevention services.
- Provided 65 homeowners with loans from the Rescue Funds Assistance Program.
- Responded to basic inquiries from more than 10,000 clients expressing an interest in homeownership.
- Provided pre-purchase homebuyer education to more than 1,150 prospective homebuyers.
- Enrolled 811 participants in two IDA programs in partnership with Empower New Haven.
- Provided 22 homeowners with matching funds for home improvements through the Home Maintenance and Energy Conservation IDA program and currently serves 76 participants.
