Winchester Avenue Project
On August 11, 2009 NHS and the Hillhouse High School football team joined forces to tackle the large task of interior demolition of two houses on Winchester Avenue.
The two homes at 664 and 678 Winchester Avenue were abandoned houses purchased by NHS to be refurbished and sold to eligible first-time low-income homebuyers after undergoing a full restoration project.

To kick-off this restoration, NHS asked the Hillhouse High School football team to donate a full day of volunteer work in the community. They assisted with the removing of plaster and wooden lats, cleaning out the basements, and removing excess materials from the structures.
With 40 students on the team, and each working for 6 hours, their combined contribution to the project was a whopping 240 hours of volunteerism in a single day!
